Gut health helpers
Hi everyone!
I’ve been on a bit of a deep-dive journey into gut health. After months of feeling sluggish, dealing with weird brain fog, and constant bloating, I decided to commit to a Candida Cleanse.
For those who don’t know, Candida is a type of yeast that lives in our bodies, but when it gets out of balance (thanks to stress, sugar, or processed foods), it can really wreak havoc on your energy and digestion. While a lot of the cleanse is about "foraging" for the right whole foods in your kitchen, I’ve found that a few specific tools have made the process so much more manageable.
I’ve had so many of you reach out asking for my "toolkit," so I’ve added my must-haves to the Resources section. Here is what I’m using and why they’ve earned a permanent spot in my pantry and medicine cabinet!
1. Puffed Millet
What it is: A light, airy, ancient grain cereal made from 100% whole grain millet.
Why I love it: Let’s be real—the hardest part of a Candida cleanse is giving up grains and crunchy snacks. Most cereals are loaded with sugar or corn, which are big no-nos. Puffed millet has been my lifesaver! It’s naturally gluten-free and has a low glycemic index, meaning it won’t feed the yeast. I love it in the morning with a splash of unsweetened almond milk and some cinnamon. It gives me that "normal" breakfast feeling without the sugar crash.
2. CandidAssist Cleansing Pills
What it is: A potent herbal blend designed specifically to balance intestinal flora.
Why I love it: Sometimes diet alone isn't enough to break down the stubborn yeast overgrowth. I call these my "cleanup crew." It uses ingredients like Caprylic Acid and Oregano Oil, which are famous for their antifungal properties. Since I started taking these, I’ve noticed a significant decrease in my sugar cravings—it’s like they’re finally quieting the "yeast monsters" asking for treats!
3. Liver Assist
What it is: A detox support supplement filled with antioxidants and herbs like Milk Thistle.
Why I love it: This is the most underrated part of a cleanse! When Candida starts to die off, it releases toxins into your system, which can leave you feeling "blah" or flu-like (the dreaded "Die-Off" reaction). Liver Assist helps my body process those toxins quickly so I don’t feel sluggish. It’s all about supporting the exit routes while you’re doing the hard work of cleansing!
4. Digestive Enzymes
What it is: High-potency enzymes that help break down carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
Why I love it: When your gut is out of whack, your digestion usually is, too. I take these before my main meals to ensure everything I’m eating is being properly absorbed. More importantly, certain enzymes (like cellulase) can actually help break down the cell walls of the Candida itself. They’ve been huge for reducing that "five-months-pregnant" bloat I used to get after every meal.
